Student Publications & Productions
Our school newspaper, The Columbia Pride, covers events and issues relevant to students at CSS.
Our talented newspaper staff is advised by Prof. Seifert.
The Contrariwise philosophy journal is a student publication which highlights and examines philosophiscal, whimsical, and thought-provoking queries. Contrariwise student editors lead: international essay competitions, in-person roundtable discussions at CSS, and philosophical podcast projects. Contrariwise has been reviewed by Cynthia Haven (Stanford University), Dr. Claudia Allums (The Dallas Institute of Humanities and Culture), and profiled by the Philosophy Learning and Teaching Organization (PLATO). Currently, Contrariwise is advised by Prof. Davis.
Please visit the Contrariwise website here.
WCSS News produces both the daily morning announcements (loudspeaker), and the weekly video news update, shared during second period homeroom. Student who work on the news gain valuable broadcasting, public speaking, video editing, and interviewing skills. All community members are invited to send Prof. Thomas (meganthomas@columbiasecondary.org) short video or voice-over news in clips of 30 seconds - 1.5 min by Wednesday of each week for publication or advertisement on Friday's news segment.
